About Us

About DazzLyn (Darren & Lynda)

It’s not just the destination – it’s the stories along the way.

We’re Darren and Lynda—aka DazzLyn—the hands, hearts, and happy chatter behind Travellin’ Dazzlyn. This is our cosy corner of the internet where road tales, handmade craft, and a good cuppa meet. We’re not full-time on the road (yet), but we’re gearing up—one short trip, one repair, and one creative project at a time.

Who we are

Two practical, creative souls from Australia who love:

  • Real stories from real places

  • Making things that last (hand-turned pens, painted treasures, thoughtful repairs)

  • Backing local legends—bakeries, markets, makers and small towns

  • Helping fellow travellers with friendly tips and a hand when something rips, busts or breaks

Our why

Travel, to us, isn’t a race between landmarks. It’s the campfire yarn, the eucalyptus at dawn, the tiny bakery down the side street. We want to share the moments that make you slow down, smile, and say, “let’s stay another night.”

Mission: Inspire curious, community-minded travel across Australia—through honest stories, handcrafted goods, and practical help on the road.

Meet the team

Darren — Driver Trainer, Craftsman, Road Whisperer

From North QLD to the Sunshine Coast, Darren’s spent years behind the wheel of buses and coaches, and now trains the next generation of safe, confident drivers. Off duty, you’ll find him at the lathe turning salvaged Australian timbers into one-of-a-kind pens—each with grain, character and a backstory.

You’ll spot Darren sharing: driver tips, road-ready wisdom, timber talk, and the satisfying shine of a freshly finished pen.

Lynda — Industrial Sewer, Artist, Singer

Lynda can mend almost anything—awnings, zips, bags, outdoor gear—fast, tidy, and built to last. She also paints pocket-sized artworks on rocks, shells and found pieces, often by a riverbank or camp table. At night, the guitar comes out and the songs do the rest.

You’ll find Lynda sharing: quick fixes, sewing hacks, painting process, and the kind of hospitality that turns neighbours into friends.

Our motorhome (a home that moves)

Part sanctuary, part workshop, part mini gallery. There’s a cosy bed nook, a compact kitchen, hidden toolkits (yes, the sewing machine travels), and just enough quirk to make it unmistakably “us.” We don’t chase kilometres—we savour stopovers: showgrounds, riversides, regional festivals and markets.

The Travellin’ Dazzlyn Shop

Hand-turned wooden pens

Shaped from reclaimed or sustainably sourced timber—old desks, farm sheds, driftwood—each pen is turned, sanded and polished by hand. No two are alike; many carry a story from the places we visit. They’re meant to be used, cherished, and talked about.

Painted rocks & tiny treasures

Whimsical mini artworks: kookaburras, koalas, echidnas, wildflowers and landscapes. Some we gift, some we list in the shop, and sometimes we leave one behind for a stranger to find.

Sewing repairs & custom projects

Travel is tough on gear. If you see us at a market or caravan park, say hello—Lynda’s portable setup is often humming. From zips to shade walls, we love giving good gear a longer life.

What you’ll find on our site (and socials)

  • Travel stories: honest, light-hearted, and sometimes delightfully sideways

  • Road-tested tips: from safe driving to campsite common sense

  • Local spotlights: the cafes, growers, artists and mechanics worth a detour

  • How-tos: lathe lessons, painting pebbles, zipper fixes and more

  • YouTube (coming soon): vlogs, behind-the-scenes, interviews, craft demos, and Darren’s driver training nuggets

We’re starting where we are—short trips now, bigger loops later. Come along while we learn, try, and occasionally get (happily) lost.

Why “shop local” matters to us

We put our money (and recommendations) into independent, regional Australia. That means eating at the family café, staying at the little park, and buying from the person who made the thing. Our products follow the same ethos: sustainably sourced, thoughtfully made, built to last.

Want to collaborate? We’re open to pop-ups, markets, workshops and features with fellow makers and small businesses. [Get in touch]
